Chute Gerdeman was founded in 1989 by husband and wife couple, Elle Chute and Denny Gerdeman.[3][4]
Since its inception, Chute Gerdeman has provided branding and design services to improve customer experiences for retail, restaurant/grocery and hospitality brands. The company services clients in the United States and around the world.[1][5]

In 2014, Chute Gerdeman opened a second office in New York City[6][7] and named Brian Shafley as CEO.[8][9]
In 2015, Elle Chute retired from the company.[10]
As of 2017, Chute Gerdeman employed 75 people.[1]

The company has worked on the design of several destinations, including O’Hare International Airport,[20] Easton Town Center,[8] Toy Kingdom,[21] and The Flagship Powered by Reebok retail store at New Meadowlands Stadium.[16]
Recognition[edit]
Chute Gerdeman has received more than 175 awards, including four “Store of the Year” awards for Kiva Spa, M&M'S World Orlando and Barbie Shanghai.[3][18] The company was recognized in 2015 for its design for Verizon's first Destination Store at the Mall of America, which won bronze in the retail category at the DSE Awards.[22]
Chute Gerdeman was named 87th of the “Top 100 Giants” from Interior Design in 2016[23] and 97th in 2017.[24]
