Lucia Simonelli is running as a non-endorsed Democratic candidate for Pennsylvania's 1st congressional district, challenging five-term incumbent Republican Brian Fitzpatrick.[1][2] She has completed the petition process and is the only non-endorsed party candidate to qualify for the 2026 PA-01 primary election ballot.[3] The primary is set for 19 May 2026.[4]

Simonelli, a mathematician[5] and former scientific advisor in the U.S. Senate,[6] is focusing on issues like healthcare, electric utility costs, and climate policy.[7] She's organized town hall meetings and interviews to share her platform.[8][9][10][11]
