Lucy Guo is a social media influencer and engineer who co-founded Scale AI and Passes []. She is the second richest self-made woman in the world.

She was born on October 14, 1994.[1] in San Francisco, California, and is known for being a venture capitalist, entrepreneur, and angel investor. Growing up in Silicon Valley, she was exposed to technology at an early age, leading to her success. When she expressed wanting to enter tech, her mom strongly discouraged her because she said it was hard for women to be successful in the field [4]. However, she is now one of the most influential people in tech.

Biography

She attended Carnegie Mellon University and studied Computer Science and Human Interaction.[2] However, she applied for the prestigious Thiel Scholarship and won. This award is given to someone 22 or under with $100,000 to drop out of college and pursue their business dreams.[3] After dropping out, she interned at Facebook, where she was then recruited to Snapchat. Working at Snap, she became the first female designer.[4] During her time, she helped develop one of the most integral parts of the app: Snap Maps. She took on the founder's passion project of localized stories.[5] After this, she moved to Quora, where she met Alexandr Wang.

Inventions

In 2016, Guo and Wang founded Scale.ai, a data platform for artificial intelligence helping automate repetitive human tasks. However, after working there, she decided to leave in 2018. That same year she made the 30 Under 30 Forbes list.[2] For a while, she was  "living as a digital nomad", but bought an apartment in 2020 in Miami. Now, she has founded San Francisco-based venture capital fund called Backend Capital. In April 2022, she created a startup called Moment, which she describes as a "web3 platform for creators".[2] With her successful tech innovations, she has improved how companies function and the overall tech scene.
