From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Lucy Layton is a British musician, a London-based singer and songwriter.

On 22 September 2016, Layton released a UK Garage-style 45th anniversary charity rework of the classic folk song I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing (in perfect harmony) at an event on the 24th floor of The Shard, London, in aid of the StepForward fund of charity Syria Relief.

On 13 October 2016, Layton and her band were recognised in the UK House of Commons, in the form of Early Day Motion 544 of 2016/17, which, as at 8 December 2016, had been signed by a total of 22 MPs. It states:

That this House congratulates Lucy Layton and her band on their fundraising efforts for Syria Relief; notes that the band have released a charity single, I'd like to teach the world to sing, with all proceeds going to Syria Relief and, specifically, the Step Forward campaign which raises money for prosthetic limbs for children injured by the war in Syria; further notes that the band performed at Syria Relief's Step Forward Event at the Shard in London, with the proceeds from ticket sales going to the campaign; and recognises the important contribution made by Lucy Layton and her band in raising both awareness and funds for the victims of the crisis in Syria.
