Suzana Joumaa (Arabic: سوزانا جمعة‎; born 1985) is a multidisciplinary artist, singer, and interior architect.[1][2][3]

Her works focus on the state of mind, imagination and the subconscious, especially those of the unrecovered from war traumas.[4][5]

Early life and education[edit]

Joumaa was born 1985 in Damascus, Syria.[1] She obtained her Bachelor's and Master's degree in Fine Art and Architecture from the Damascus University. In 2014, Joumaa studied parametric design and scripting to develop her tools and studied international arbitration diploma at Ain Shams University in Egypt in 2014.[1]

Career[edit]

Joumaa worked as an assistant professor at the Arab International University in Damascus in the Department of Architecture.[6] She had already set up her studio in 2005, which she modified in terms of the design.[1] She is a jury member of ArtBeat international competition - region of Qatar.[7][8]

She won the Qatar Al Fan Competition in outdoor furniture and carpet categories.[6]

Joumaa participated in several exhibitions about art and architecture in Qatar and Syria.[1][9][10]

She won a local prize in the Qatar Art Competition and said in an interview with the Qatari newspaper Al Sharq: "I am honored as a Multidisciplinary artist and architectural designer, I wanted my works to bear a new idea and imprint in order to draw attention to the 'mangrove' phenomenon, one of the country symbols."[11]

In 2016, she sang the closing title for the Nebtedy Mnen El Hekaya series.[12]

In 2021, Joumaa participated in the "Grey Times" exhibition displayed at Qatar Fire Station, a project by Qatar Museums.[13] She displayed six works with visual and audio architectural inspired content, three of which are contemporary surreal oil paintings and a three-dimensional printed sculpture of a fictional creature, a group of structures and a mirror with a reflection that symbolizes confinement and restrictions.[14]

Joumaa has also been a key speaker at many international conferences and has published many scientific papers and research.[1]
