Luisa Russo (born June 23, 1985[1] in Palermo, Italy) is an Italian cartoonist and illustrator.
Biography[edit]
Russo began her career with Italian publisher Star Comics. In 2013 she made her French debut drawing and coloring two volumes of Envols, by Éditions du Long Bec, working with script writers Nicolas Kempf and Roger Seiter. From 2018, Luisa has collaborated with Éditions du Signe for the album Schiltigheim, l'écume des siècles. The following year she illustrated the acclaimed series Atlantis - Sunken Earth, printed by Clair de lune. Her recent work in the United States has been covers for Dark Horse Comics, collaborating with publishers Z2 Comics (Beethoven: the last symphony,2020) and Mad Cave Studios (Grimm Tales from the cave,2021).
In 2020, after the end of the publication of four volumes of the Atlantis series, Luisa illustrated two volumes of Hella and the Hellboyz[2] for Drakoo publishing. Written by screenwriter Kid Toussaint, the first album was released in March 2021 and quickly sold out. Also in 2021, Luisa drew the third volume of the series The Giants (Les Géants) for Glénat publishing. Luisa is also co-creator of Glyn in Monster Land, an all-ages fantasy comedy graphic novel which was successfully funded on Indiegogo.
Luisa has recently finished illustrating L.I.L.Y for Graham Coxon's new book Super State.
Luisa is currently working on a project for Kennes Editions.
