Simone Angelini (Chieti, 1980), is an Italian cartoonist and illustrator.[1] [2] [3]. He is the co-creator and artist of the highly acclaimed italian graphic novel ANUBI[4][5][6][7][8], and Malloy the Space Collector .
Biography[edit]
Born in Chieti but always he lived in Pescara, origin's city of his family. He started self-producing comics when he was very young and has continued to the present day with collectives of Italian, U.S., British and Argentines cartoonists and illustrators.[9]
He is active both for self-production, and with major publishing companies as Panini Comics, Coconino press/Fandango, Rai.com. His graphic novel Storie brevi e senza pietà (Short and merciless stories), published by Panini Comics, was published in the United States by Tinto Press and 4 vecchi di merda (4 Vieux Enfoirés), published by Coconino Press, was published in France by Editions Rackham .[10] In 2016 he wrote a reportage for L'espresso of his city Pescara and the influence it had on artistic training of the famous cartoonist Andrea Pazienza.[11]
In 2019 he participated in the project "Comics in Museums" [12] promoted by MIBACT and Coconino Press with the story Il Tema di Ascanio for the National Museum of Castel Sant'Angelo in Rome[13], using the characters of his comics, Anubi, Horus, Enrico[14]
In the same year he illustrated a children's novel written by the famous Italian writer Dacia Maraini. A book called "Sea Wave and the Extinguished Dragon".
In March 2020 participate with Gipi, Zerocalcare, Davide Toffolo, Carmine Di Giandomenico, Sara Pichelli and other cartoonists to the realization of the choral volume COme VIte Distanti, promoted by ARF! Festival of Rome[15][16] and to a charity auction on Catawiki organized by Lucca Comics & Games[17], both to raise funds in support of Lazzaro Spallanzani National Institute for Infectious Diseases and of Tuscan health system for the fight against COVID-19.
In May 2020 he uses a game format created by himself "Tournament of Mazzate", a drawing game near to the Photoshop tennis and Fort_Thunder's Wrestling experience. He involved six other cartoonists as Carmine di Giandomenico, Dottor Pira ,Enrico Macchiavello , Vincenzo Filosa, Spugna, Paolo Cattaneo and Martoz. The tournament was broadcast in a live streaming on the official Napoli COMICON 's facebook and youtube channels.[18][19]
