Luna Melis (Italian pronunciation: [ˈlu:na ˈme:lis]; born January 15, 2002 in Cagliari), often simply called Luna, is an Italian singer and rapper. She rose to national popularity in 2018, with her participation in the twelfth Italian edition of the talent show X Factor, where she placed third.
Biography
Luna was born in 2002 in Cagliari, capital of the island of Sardinia, Italy, and has grown up in Uta, a small village near the city. Music has always been her great passion, and she has been singing since she was very young. Her family has always supported her passion (her father being a musician himself), and she also plays piano. In 2013, she participated in her first talent show, Io Canto, where she reached third place. Four years later, she took part in another one, Tra sogno e realtà. Both formats addressed children and teenagers. In 2018, she participated in the twelfth Italian edition of X Factor: there she was chosen by Manuel Agnelli, one of the program's coaches, for his team. Her exhibitions were highly acclaimed and appreciated by the audience..[1] and Luna eventually conquered third place. During X Factor, she presented her first single, Los Angeles[2][3]: the song sold more than 25,000 copies, thus being certified gold in Italy the following year. On March 8, 2019, Luna released her second single Donna Domani, featuring Chadia Rodriguez[4]
Music style
Luna's music is a blend of pop and hip hop (sometimes, with electronic elements), combining singing and rapping[5]. She has been defined "the new promise of Italian urban scene"[6]
