Lunar Rescue is the stage name of Welsh singer-songwriter, record producer and vocal coach Benn Willis. Based in Cardiff, Willis writes, records and produces his own material, blending acoustic songwriting with ambient and electronic elements.[1][2] He is signed to the London-based independent label Jam Music Records.[3]

Career

Lunar Rescue emerged in 2014 with the single Matriarch, which was featured by Tom Robinson on BBC Introducing’s Fresh On The Net, where the duo was described as “Cardiff duo Lunar Rescue (Andrew Lawson & Benn Willis) with their first single ‘Matriarch’.”[1][4]

Willis continued to write and produce independently as Lunar Rescue, combining atmospheric soundscapes with confessional lyricism. He co-wrote the song Just The Same with Amy Wadge and Alex Stacey, which appeared on Wadge’s EP When Did You Get Old?.[5]

In 2023, he released the EP Time Does Not Exist, which includes tracks such as Love Is the Truth and Phantom Limb.[6]

In 2024, Willis released the EP Race to the Bottom, which included the track Until Then featuring Amy Wadge.[7]

His 2025 album If I Die Before You Wake continued his blend of acoustic and electronic elements and expanded his profile as an independent artist.[8]

Outside of recording, Willis works as a vocal coach, with Keep Cardiff Live noting his work developing singers and co-writing with Amy Wadge.[9]
