Luqom Group is an international group of companies headquartered in Berlin, Germany. It was established in 2017 and, after several acquisitions, now acts as the umbrella company for Lampemesteren, Lampenwelt and QLF[citation needed].
Luqom Group specialized in the trade of lamps and luminaires. These are sold to private and business customers on ecommerce platforms.
History[edit]
Early history[edit]
In the early 2000s, Andreas and Thomas Rebmann launched an online store for lamps and luminaires under the domain name lampenwelt.de. They founded the company of the same name and built up logistics and service capacities before expanding abroad in 2012. Meanwhile, the company's sales had multiplied.[1][2]
In the mid-2010s, financial investors also took notice of Lampenwelt. In 2017, 3i secured a majority stake in the company and provided financing to further push its international business.[3] The transaction was handled without investment banks.[4] After 3i, venture capitalist Project A also participated and provided additional capital.[5]
Recent developments[edit]
In 2017, Lampenwelt's business was reorganized under the umbrella of Luqom Group.[6][7] Later, the headquarters were also moved from Schlitz to Berlin. Along the way, structures were created for the acquisition of QLF (2019) and Lampemesteren (2021). Hereby, Luqom Group expanded its market presence and increased its sales to more than 200 million euros.[8]
Operations[edit]
Legal structure[edit]
The group is headed by Luqom GmbH, which forms an association with its subsidiaries and has no operating business of its own. This is bundled in Lampemesteren A/S, Lampenwelt GmbH and QLF Holding B.V. The companies serve different regions and segments.[9]
The majority of Luqom Group's shares are owned by the 3i group investment company. In addition, Project A of the Otto Group is among the shareholders. Other smaller shares are held by management and other individual investors.[9]
Business activities[edit]
Luqom Group operates online stores in various languages under more than 60 domains[citation needed]. Lamps and lighting from the entry-level, premium and luxury segments are sold there to private and business customers. The product range currently includes around 50,000 products, which come from established manufacturers and designers as well as from the company's own production.[citation needed]
In addition to its core e-commerce business, Luqom Group also acts as a service provider, for example in online marketing for brand partners.
