Lydia Maria Bader (born in Trostberg, Germany in 1981), is a German pianist.

Lydia Maria Bader was born in 1981 to a musical family in Bavaria, Germany and began piano lessons with her father at age four. At 15 she was accepted into the Pre-College Program at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich. After graduating from high school, she continued to study there with Professor Michael Schäfer and received her Artist and Concert Diplomas. Other chapters in her education include the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (Austria) and the Conservatoire National Supérieur in Paris. Additionally, she has worked with renowned masters such as András Schiff, Jacques Rouvier, Philippe Entremont, Mikhail Vosskressenky, Pascal Devoyon and Ludwig Hofmann.

She is the recipient of multiple First Prizes in the German national young musicians auditions (“Jugend musiziert”) and has also earned prizes at many international competitions such as Flame in Paris (2005) and Glière (first prize in 2008). She has been awarded stipends from the Jürgen Ponto Foundation, the "Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben" and Giesecke & Devrient. Focus online called her 2008 the New star in the classical universe.[1]

Lydia Maria Bader’s concert engagements have taken her to numerous countries in Europe, as well as Russia and Asia.[2][3] Her 2009 debut tour in China drew considerable attention from the press, where she was celebrated and dubbed the “German Piano Princess”.[4] Since then she has performed and taught regularly in China.

In addition to her solo concerts, Lydia Maria Bader is an active chamber musician. Her frequent partners include Georg Arzberger (clarinet) and Heike Matthiesen (guitar), with whom she founded the project “Konzertsalon” in 2014 as a platform to offer high quality house concerts. Her debut CD was released in 2012, featuring works of Beethoven, Fauré, Debussy, Ravel und Liszt. The newest recording "Music of the North" will be released in december 2014 by the label gutingi.
