Lyra Evans (born October 12, 1992) is a Canadian politician.[1] As the New Democratic Party of Canada nominee for Ottawa-Vanier in the Ontario general election, 2018, she is the first openly transgender candidate nominated by a major party for a provincial election in Ontario.[2][3][4]
Biography[edit]
Lyra Evans is from Carp, a small village west of Ottawa, Canada. Evans studied chemistry at the University of Ottawa.[5] She is running for the New Democratic Party of Canada as a nominee for Ottawa-Vanier in the Ontario general election in 2018. She is the first openly transgender candidate nominated by a major party for a provincial election in Ontario.[6][7]
