MEMS Power Generation Limited (formerly Medway Electrical and Mechanical Services Ltd.) is a United Kingdom–based provider of temporary power generation. The company was founded in 1978 by Colin Jarvis and supplies generator solutions for emergency, planned and long-term use across sectors including healthcare, utilities, data centres and manufacturing.[1]
History
- 1978 – Founded by Colin Jarvis in Medway as Medway Electrical and Mechanical Services.[1]
- 1979 – Expanded into generator installation services.[1]
- 1986 – Relocated to larger premises at Medway House, Gillingham Road.[1]
- 1997 – Appointed the largest official Cummins UK Generator dealer.[1]
- 2000 – Increased rental operations during the millennium bug period.[1]
- 2010 – Opened an eight-acre rental facility in Kent with a 24-hour control room.[1]
- 2013 – Invested £5 million in a Derbyshire facility to expand national coverage.[1]
- 2014 – Company name changed to MEMS Power Generation Limited.[2]
- 2016 – Vertiv acquired MEMS’s UK genset maintenance division.[3]

Notable projects
- In 2015, emergency generators supplied during the Holborn power cut in central London were reported by the BBC.[5]
Community and sponsorship
MEMS has sponsored local football clubs, including as front-of-shirt sponsor for Gillingham F.C.[6] and as shorts sponsor for Notts County F.C. in 2023.[7]
