MTJF (More Than Just Friends) is a mobile dating app which helps users to anonymously find out if their friends are interested in pursuing a romantic relationship with them.[1]

    Founding[edit]

MTJF was released by Sangram Kakad on 24 February 2018. According to him, a personal experience that involved his secret feelings about a friend and his inability to express them without risking their friendship, inspired the creation of the app. He first examined the need of MTJF through surveys and published journals about the complications of a romantic friendship, the fear of rejection and the consequences of a failing romance.[2][3] Eventually, Sangram outsourced MTJF's development to a start up company, namely Engineerbabu.[4]

    Operation[edit]

MTJF promotes dating among friends and helps them convert their friendship into relationship. The account creation of MTJF takes place using stored number & One-time password. A user can send a ‘Like’ to any friend, irrespective of whether the other person has a MTJF profile or not, as long as the number is stored on contacts list. A 'Match' occurs once the friend likes back the user.

    Features[edit]

    MTJF incudes these features:[5]

    • Hint enables the user to send a 'Like' and include an optional anonymous message to help the friend guess the sender. The identity of the user remains private.
    • Anonymous Chat allows the receiver of a 'Hint' to reply and anonymously chat with the sender.
    • Activities are available after a 'Match'; both users can swipe a number of activities that may interest them doing together. Once these match, they can set a date. The available activities to swipe are; Movie, Road Trip, Date, Kiss, and Get Naughty.

    Reception[edit]

During its launch, MTJF reached the top 10 Products on Product Hunt.[6] Within the first 2 months of launch MTJF received over 20,000 organic downloads. In June 2018, MTJF was accepted in Facebook’s FbStart program.[7]
