MX vs. ATV Legends is a 2022 off-road racing video game developed by Rainbow Studios and published by THQ Nordic for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X. This is the seventh game of the MX vs. ATV franchise and the first to be released on ninth-generation consoles for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms. It was announced on September 17, 2021.[1]
Gameplay[edit]
The core focus of the game allows for the player to race motocross and supercross on motocross bikes or ATVs and also race with the UTVs like with MX vs ATV: All Out. The game also includes events such as free ride and the new Trails mode that released with the pre-order of the game. The newly improved career mode adds new choices for the players to make that lead to different paths, sponsorship opportunities and special invitational events. There are also different challenges throughout career mode that players will receive from sponsorships for different events. Players also can race in 2 player split-screen or online with up to 16 other players with squad-based gameplay included.
Reception[edit]
According to review aggregator Metacritic the game received "negative to mixed reviews" from critics. Softpedia gave a positive review of the game saying "The addition of an open environment is hands down the best idea, as it provides the off-road adventure with a new side that’s more or less based on exploration. At the same time, it feels like it generates a high replayability level, and at the end of the day, this is what helps keep a game alive a long time after its launch." While GamingBolt gave mixed review describing that "MX vs ATV Legends could have been a decent arcade-style, sim-lite racer. Whatever appeal could be found in mastering jumps and customizing vehicles is beset by numerous issues. It's not grossly offensive but you're better off investing time in just about any other racer."
