Madison Audrey Murnin (born June 26, 1999) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a defender for Damallsvenskan club Piteå IF. She played college soccer for the UCF Knights before starting her professional career with ASA Tel Aviv in Israel and DC Power FC in the USL Super League.[2]

Early life

Murnin was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida,[3] the daughter of John and Helaine Murnin.[2] She played youth club soccer for local organization Jacksonville FC, contributing to three national and three state titles.[2] Murnin attended Sandalwood High School, where she also played soccer.[4]

College career

In her freshman season playing college soccer for the UCF Knights, Murnin recorded 2 goals and 1 assist across 18 appearances.[5] On September 1, 2017, she scored her first college goal, netting a late game-winner against Arizona to secure a comeback victory. After also performing well against Arizona State shortly thereafter, Murnin was named the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Rookie of the Week.[6] Murnin's efforts throughout her rookie year helped UCF win its first-ever AAC regular season title.[7]

Murnin made 10 starts in 14 appearances as a sophomore in 2018.[2] The following year, she started in all 19 games in which she played.[8] Murnin's senior season was held in the spring of 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic; co-captaining the Knights, she put on a season that earned her a spot on the All-AAC second team.[2][9] In the fall of 2021, Murnin was the only member of her team to return for a fifth year. She was one of seven Knights players to participate in all 16 of the team's matches. Operating primarily as a midfielder, she also tallied 3 assists.[10]

Club career

In January 2022, Murnin signed her first professional contract with Israeli club ASA Tel Aviv.[11]

On May 4, 2024, Murnin was announced as one of UNKNWN FC's five first-ever signings ahead of the club's inaugural season in the pre-professional Women's Premier Soccer League.[12]

DC Power FC announced on August 14, 2024, that they had signed Murnin ahead of the inaugural USL Super League season.[3] Murnin made her Super League debut four days later, playing all 90 minutes of the first-ever game in league history.[13] She was a consistent starter in her first season for DC, coming on as a substitute in only one of her 16 appearances.[14] The following year, Murnin's playing time decreased, as she made 12 starts across 21 matches.[15] She scored her first USLS goal on October 4, 2025, four minutes after entering an eventual 3–2 loss to the Carolina Ascent.[16] She departed from DC Power at the end of the 2025–26 season.[17]

In July 2026, Murnin joined Swedish club Piteå IF.[18] She made her Damallsvenskan debut on July 31, making a substitute appearance in an away match against BK Häcken.[19]

International career

In 2013, Murnin was called into a United States under-14 national team camp.[2] Over four years later, in March 2018, she traveled with the under-18 national team to a camp in Switzerland ahead of two friendlies against the Switzerland U19s.[4] After being an unused substitute in the first game, Murnin made her U18 debut in the second, subbing on for captain Jenna Nighswonger in the 1–1 draw.[20]
