Magé incident

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The Magé incident was a reported UFO sighting that occurred on the 12th and 13th of May, 2020, in the city of Magé in Greater Rio de Janeiro. From around 10:40 PM until 2:00 AM, residents of the city recorded videos showing various strange lights of different colors in the heart of the city and shared them on social media[1]. The lights in the videos range from circular objects to bright flashes of light occurring at the edge of the horizon[2][3].

Conspiracy theories[edit]

Possible crash[edit]

Some began to formulate a conspiracy theory in which one of the UFOs crashed in the district of Pau Grande[4][5], near a factory of the arms manufacturing and research quango the IMBEL wherein helicopters of the Brazilian Armed Forces may have recovered the alleged wreck. There were no relevant communications from the related authorities.

Cover-up by Google[edit]

It was also suggested in some videos that Google may have censored images and coordinates related to the place where the UFO supposedly collided[6], which was readily disproved as the images on Google products do not update in real time.

Possible explanations[edit]

Venus[edit]

According to the ufologist Marco Antonio Petit, the videos may be sightings of the planet Venus and of some satellites such as those of the Starlink system[7].

Munitions testing and accidental explosions[edit]

Another possible explanation for the case, and especially for the flashes of light, is possible explosives testing carried out by the IMBEL's Estrela Plant. The theory gained strength due to the accidental death of one of IMBEL's officials on the day of question[8].
