Mahajot (Assam)
The Mahajot is a seat-based alliance between the Left in Assam and the INC, which has been campaigning for alternative governance against the black laws National Register of Citizens and Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019. Ahead of the 2021 assembly elections, a 10-party anti-BJP grand alliance was formed. In the assembly elections, Congress won 29 seats, AIUDF 16, BPF 4 and ally CPM 1 seat. Later the AIUDF and BPF, which were accused of ties with the BJP, were expelled from the alliance.
