Mahdieh Arab is an Iranian lyricist, writer, journalist and teacher of lyric writing, born in Tehran. She holds a master’s degree in Persian language and literature and began her professional career in songwriting and journalism in 2002.
Alongside her work as a lyricist, Arab teaches poetry, lyric writing and creative writing. She has taught poetry at the Culture and Art branch of the University of Applied Science and Technology, as well as creative writing in schools. She is also the founder and director of the Cafe Taraneh sessions and the Golden Song Workshop, and has organised a range of courses and workshops in lyric writing.
Her published books include ‘‘Ye Hali Daram In Rooza’’ and ‘‘Amuzesh-e Dastan-nevisi baraye Koudakan’’, a guide to creative writing for children. She has also contributed to the screenplays ‘‘Parvandeh-haye Kour’’ and ‘‘Marun’’.
Arab has written numerous songs performed by Iranian singers. Her collaborations with Mehdi Yaghmaei include “Hess-e Ajib”, “Hamin Ke Hasti Bash”, “Chizi Namoundeh Boud”, “Be Fekram Bash” and “Ye Donya Harf”. She also wrote the theme song for the television series ‘‘Setareh-haye Sorbi’’, performed by Yaghmaei, composed by Alireza Gharaei-Manesh and arranged by Pouria Heydari.

Arab also wrote “Yeki Touye Zendegimeh” and “Sadeh”, performed by the Black Cats; “Man Motmaenam” and “Ostooreh-ha”, performed by Ayineh; “Tekrari”, performed by Kamyar; “Mosafer-e Eshgh”, performed by Farhad Mahadian; “Rang-e Jadoo” and “Sayeh Mahtab”, performed by Omran Taheri; “Cheshmaye Barooni”, performed by Amin Rostami; “Del-e Divooneh” and “Delshooreh”, performed by Houman Sezavar; and “Migozari”, performed by Alireza Mousavi.
