Mahesh Mahadev is an Indian music composer, lyricist and singer who has composed many original music scores and soundtracks in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Urdu, Sanskrit, English and various languages.[1][2][3][4][5]
Family & Early life[edit]
Mahesh Mahadev was born on October 28th, 1981 in Bengaluru, India to an Art & Music loving Marathi family. He is the third child of Shri. R. Mahadeva Rao and Smt. Manjula Jadhav. He has three siblings who are very artistic, creative and gifted in their own ways. He has two elder sisters Deepanjali, Pushpanjali and a younger brother Sunil Mahadev. Mahesh Mahadev is trained in western music from ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music), London from Film Guitarists Radha Vijayan & Sada Sudarsanam who is a lead guitarist for Maestro Ilayaraja
Career[edit]
As a Film Composer[edit]
He is currently working as Music Composer for the Tamil Film ‘Maaligai’ Starring Andrea Jeremiah, Ashuthosh Rana, K.S. Ravi Kumar & others. Mahesh Mahadev has Composed a Classical Song “Omkara Pranava Mantra“ in Raga Dharmavathi for this film.[6] [7][8]
As a Non - Film Composer[edit]
Mahesh Mahadev has composed non film songs in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Urdu, Sanskrit, English and various languages.[9][10]Recently he has composed music for around 25 poems of Kaiwara Sri Yogi Nareyana which are in Kannada and Telugu, in popular Hindustani and Carnatic classical ragas. Dr. S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, Priyadarshini, Badari Prasad, Raghuram and many other popular singers have lent their voices to these songs. Kaiwara Dharmadikari Dr. Jayaram Released the Audio.[11] The songs from the Album ‘Dhimi Dhimi’[12] in Rag Brindavan Sarang, Kandenu Sri Ranganaatana song [13]Grahabedam in Raga Chakravaka , Narudu Gurudani [14]in Hindola Raga, Sri Nareyana Namamrutha in Hamir Kalyani, Nanenu Ballenu In Darbari Kanada Raaga Malika, Rama Rama Mukunda in Raga Saramati are few of the popular ones. His latest Hindi song ‘Neele Gagan Mein’ from the album "Sawan ke Badal" received wide appreciation among listeners. Mahesh Mahadev has composed many Jingles for TV Channels and songs for special occasions, for Kannada Television News Channel 'Dighvijay News' he composed Rajyotsava special song and also appeared as a singer in the song video.[15]
As a Raga Creator[edit]
Mahesh Mahadev is an creator of many Indian Classical Ragas. His creations includes Raga Srirangapriya, Sriskanda, Binduroopini, Bhimsen, Naada Kalyani, Tapaswi, Mayurapriya, AmruthKalyani and others. He has also used many complex swara patterns and rare Carnatic, Hindustani ragas in his Projects..[16]
As a Hindustani Composer[edit]
He has composed many Hindustani Bandish in Hindi, and Kannada languages, His creations expanded its horizons to the outstanding creation of Raga Bhimsen with the Bandish ‘Giridhar Gopal Shyam’ in teen taal Madhya laya and ‘Man ke Mandir Ayore’ in teen tala Druth laya composed and penned by himself in Hindi language dedicated to Bharath Rathna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi.[16] A Marathi Abhang 'Dhyan Karu Zata' composed in new raga 'Mukthipradayini' written by Samarth Ramdas, sung by Hindustani Vocalist Pt. Jayateerth Mevundi [17]
As a Carnatic Composer[edit]
Mahesh Mahadev has written and composed many Carnatic Krithis in Kannada and Sanskrit Language. the Kriti on Hindu God Ganesha " Gowri Sutam" in Raga Hamsadwani, "Sakala Kala Sharade" on Goddess in Raga Keeravani, "Mahadeva Shambho Shiva" in Raga Hindolam, "Shakthi Swaroopini Amba" in Raga Sindhu Bhairavi are more prominent
As a Lyricist[edit]
He is a lyricist who has penned lyrics for films, Hindustani Bandishes, Carnatic Krithis, many Private Albums etc. He has penned the latest song “Anuragada Aleyali” sung by Priyadarshini for Music Composer M.N Krupakar from the Kannada film ‘Jhansi I.P.S’ starring Raai Laxmi in the role of an I.P.S officer with Mukesh Tiwari, Ravi Kale and others[18]
Academic contribution[edit]
Mahesh Mahadev is Managing Director of PRISM Foundation (Priyadarshini School of Music Foundation) and has been training many students for Vocal and Popular Music (Film Singing). He is a Mentor, Voice Trainer for Music Students[19] and also coaches Students for Trinity College of London International Music Board Graded Examinations. He has also training students for the Open elective subject Popular Music at the Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, Bangalore[20]
