Mahmood Awan (Born 24 February 1977 in Padhrar, Pakistan)[2] "Mahmood Awan is a leading Punjabi Poet and Journalist[3]Irish Pakistani who has written three books of Punjabi Poetry and writes for leading English Newspapers of Pakistan 'The News' and 'Dawn'[4] .

Early life

Mahmood Awan is a Punjabi Poet, essayist and Journalist. He did his Fsc. in Pre Engineering From University of Sargodha in 1994 and won a Silver Medal in Sargodha Division Exams. He completed his degree from University of Engineering and Technology Lahore (UET) in 2000.[5]

Career

After working with different multi-national companies in Pakistan and Abroad, he is currently settled in Dublin (Ireland). He is an award-winning author of three books of Punjabi poetry.

He writes literary columns on The News and Dawn News, leading English dailies of Pakistan. His Punjabi poetry is published on both sides of the Punjabi border. He was awarded the Masud Khaddarposh award and the Gure Nank award for his poetry. [6]

He worked with BBC Radio for WW1 and Soldiers of the empire. He has appeared on many radios and television shows.[7] During this time he wrote his famous book;[8]

His columns are frequently quoted in Indian newspapers, including Turbine, Hindustan Times, and Times of India. He started the popular literary page Kitab Trinjan Heer Ranjha.

Mahmood’s poems and Sobhati’s novella got extraordinary reviews [9] as the writers that he admires.
