Mahmoud Zarrabi (Persian: محمود ضرابی; March 1, 1946 in Kerman) is a retired McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II pilot of the Iranian Air Force who was one of the fighter pilots of the Air Force during the Iran-Iraq war.[1][2]
Background[edit]
Zarrabi entered the Air Force pilot school in 1965 and completed the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II pilot course in US. He returned to Iran in 1969 and started his official career in the Imperial Iranian Air Force.[3][4]
At the same time as the start of the Iran-Iraq war, he was responsible for the operation of Bushehr 6th Hunting Base. He was one of the pilots of operation Kaman 99 and participated in various operations during the war.[5]
Abbaas Dowraan, the Phantom pilot, was considered one of his comrades.[2]
