Major Grom: Game (Russian: Майор Гром: Игра, romanized: Mayor Grom: Igra) is a 2024 Russian action film directed by Oleg Trofim, based on the comic book series of the same name by the Russian publisher Bubble Comics, created by Artyom Gabrelyanov. Sequel to Major Grom: Plague Doctor. It is the fourth film adapted from Bubble Comics, as well as the third feature-length film based on a Russian comic. Prior to that, the studio had released the short film Major Grom, the feature film Major Grom: Plague Doctor and its prequel Grom: Boyhood.
It stars Tikhon Zhiznevsky in the lead role, alongside Lyubov Aksyonova, Aleksei Maklakov, Aleksandr Seteykin, and Dmitry Chebotaryov. The film is set in Saint Petersburg and tells the story of police major Igor Grom, an honest and skilled cop with unconventional methods, who become a celebrity after capturing the plague doctor vigilante, which places him in unwanted position.
Plot[edit]
A year has passed since the events of Plague Doctor.
Unexpected popularity has befallen Igor Grom: he is recognized on the streets, considered a hero, and a comic about him is about to be published.
But while Grom is tested by his newfound fame, he must also contend with Police Lieutenant General Maria Arkhipova, who wants to reform the Saint Petersburg police and replace the staff with highly advanced technological devices, courtesy of international weapons magnate August van der Holt. To make matters worse, a mysterious new supervillain called "The Ghost" has appeared in the city — with plans to turn St. Petersburg into their personal battleground.
