Malik Jalal
Malik Jalal is a tribal elder from Waziristan, Pakistan. As of 2016, he was an intermediary in settling local disputes and a senior member of the North Waziristan peace committee (NWPC) between the Taliban and the Government of Pakistan.[1][2][3]
Jalal claimed in 2016 that he had been targeted by four drone strikes due to his alleged presence on a kill list since 2010. Due to the effects of the drone strikes, he and his family fled Waziristan for Peshawar, Pakistan.[1]
According to Jalal, sources within the Central Intelligence Agency confirmed his presence on such a list, however, he admitted that he had not seen the list himself. Both the CIA and British Foreign Office have not commented about his case. Jalal was granted a visa to the United Kingdom to testify before Parliament at the invitation of Ken Macdonald[4] about his case. According to CNN, it is unlikely that Jalal would have been granted a visa to the UK if he were on a list or a targeted terrorist.[1]
