Mallela Venkata Ramanareddy (1944 – 29 September 2021) was an Indian physician and politician from Andhra Pradesh belonging to YSR Congress Party. He was elected as a legislator of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Proddatur in 1983.

Early life

MV Ramana Reddy was born in 1944. He received his MBBS degree from Guntur Medical College. During his college days he started a monthly magazine called Kavitha with some friends. He later published a political magazine called Prabhanjanam. MV Reddy was the founder president of Rayalaseema Vimochana Samiti and had favoured the formation of a separate Rayalaseema state. He is the founder member of Revolutionary Writers' Association.

Political career

MV Ramana Reddy contested and won from Proddatur Assembly constituency as an independent in 1983. He later joined Telugu Desam Party but left it after he fell out with N.T. Rama Rao. He had also staged protests demanding justice as well as addressing the backwardness of the Rayalaseema region and for the separate statehood for Rayalaseema.

Death

MV Ramana Reddy died on 29 September 2021 at Kurnool Hospital while undergoing treatment for a long time due to lung-related ailments.[1][2][3]
