Manas Choudhury (born 19 August 1968) is an Indian politician, trade-union organiser and entrepreneur from Odisha. A senior leader of the Indian National Congress (INC), he serves as National Secretary of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) and president of the Cuttack District Congress Committee.[1][2]
Early life
Choudhury was born in Cuttack on 19 August 1968.[3] Early community work in the city fostered his interest in public service.
Political career
Choudhury’s political journey began in 1998 with the District Youth Congress in Bhubaneswar and has progressed through the following roles:
- 1998–2000: General Secretary, District Youth Congress (Bhubaneswar)[3]

During his tenure as Cuttack DCC president, Choudhury was **arrested in March 2023** while leading a Congress protest in the city.[6] In **July 2023** police filed a case against him and party workers for staging a demonstration inside a revenue inspector’s office.[5] He also appeared on Kalinga TV discussing a Congress–police clash the same month.[7] In **June 2024** Kanak News reported that his suspension from the party had been revoked following intervention by OPCC president Bhakta Charan Das.[8]
