Maneesh Garg is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and public speaker. He is also the Managing Director (MD)/Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of Afriglobal Group.[1][2]

Early life and education[edit]

Maneesh and his twin brother Ashish were born in Nairobi, Kenya to B.B Garg and Shashi Garg on the 29th of April, 1971. He attended Corona School in Apapa, Lagos for his primary education. To further his education, he attended the Welham Boys' School and The Doon School, Dehradun, India and completed his secondary education at the Rugby School in the UK.

As an alumni of Oxford University, Maneesh received his undergraduate degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics (P.P.E) at Corpus Christi College. This was followed up with a Master’s degree in Economics from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois in the United States.

Career[edit]

After pursuing his studies, Maneesh briefly worked in Washington D.C as a consultant to the World Bank before returning to Nigeria in 1993 to take over Nagode Industries, the family business.[3] Under his leadership, the organization grew from $3 million in revenue to over $150 million in 2010.[4]

Maneesh is currently the Managing Director (MD)/Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of Afriglobal, a conglomerate focused on chemicals and raw material trading and distribution, logistics and supply chain management, and healthcare in Nigeria through the provision of diagnostics to medical equipment distribution and maintenance.[5]

Maneesh is also a public speaker. He has given various public talks and speeches in numerous forums around Nigeria – the most notable being his TedX Talk in Ife, Nigeria where he touched on topics ranging from his own personal entrepreneurial journey and the obstacles involved, self-management, mental well-being, and leadership.[6] [7] He often appears on Nigerian news channels to discuss issues relating to the Nigerian economy, leadership, and growth in Africa.[8][9]

Maneesh is an active member of various organizations including Ashoka; Entrepreneurs Ecosystem, and the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO).[10]

Philanthropy[edit]

From his early life and inspired by his family – Maneesh Garg is passionate about giving back and helping others.Through Afriglobal Group, He established the NAGODE FOUNDATION that sponsors various philanthropic causes in Nigeria including free breast cancer tests to women who cannot afford the test, funding and support of the Field of Skills and Dreams entrepreneurship academy (FSD) which trains youths in various skills from cooking to coding.[11][12] The Nagode Foundation also empowers the physically disabled through various means including sponsoring the International Federation of Skate soccer in their sports events for disabled youths who have a passion for soccer.[13]
