Manie Musicale
Manie Musicale is an international competition featuring music artists of the French language, which was founded in 2017. Students and artists around the world have participated,[1] and it is used by teachers as a way to involve their students in French. The competition was created by teachers Stephanie Carbonneau and Michelle Fournier.[2] Manie Musicale is modeled after the NCAA tournament March Madness. The competition is also used by French artists to propel their careers and provide fame. In the 2025 tournament, 4331 schools with French in their curriculum participated in the tournament's largest turnout.
Origins
Manie Musicale was started by teachers Stephanie Carbonneau and Michelle Fournier, as a way to open the linguistic barrier between French and English, and to promote the spread of the French language worldwide.[3] The teachers hail from Maine, and both teach French in their respective classes. To increase the participation of their students, they created Manie Musicale. In the year 2017, their two schools (York Middle School and Falmouth Middle School, respectively) founded this competition.
