Introduction[edit]
The French Alliance of Mexico City (AFMX) is a Franco-Mexican cultural center for teaching the French language, recognized by the French government. It promotes the culture of both countries through a dynamic program of activities such as: cinema, theater, concerts, exhibitions, conferences, festivals, etc. It is also part of the worldwide network of French Alliances, Fondation Alliance Française, which has more than 500,000 students in 1,300 centers distributed in 135 countries.[1]
History[edit]
The AFMX was founded in 1884, just one year after the creation of the first center in Paris in 1883, thus becoming one of the pioneering franchises of the Alliance Française group. Jules Verne and Louis Pasteur, among others, are the founders.[1]
Activities and Services[edit]
Language Classes[edit]
The institution uses the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), a standard that governs the teaching systems of language institutions, to measure the level of oral and written skills in a language. In this way, it manages the levels when teaching classes, distributing the groups by age, adolescent children and adults. It also organizes teaching approaches for companies.[2]
Likewise, it executes tests for the accreditation of certificates, the DELF and the DALF, which are the official diplomas awarded by the "France Éducation International" on behalf of the French Ministry of National Education.[3]
Cultural Events[edit]
The French alliance promotes the integration of French culture through exhibitions, film projections, appreciation of Francophone music, exhibition of works of art, performing arts, book club, special events according to ephemeris, among others.[4]
