Maninderjeet Singh (Born 7 January 1998, Amritsar), is an Indian field hockey player who plays as a midfielder for the Indian National Team. In 2008, he started his academic career in field hockey. In 2018, he represented India in senior India Camp (Test series) with Bangladesh and Korea. His idol is Tejbir Singh Hundal (International hockey player) currently SP Batala. His future goal is to represent India in olympics.
Early Life
Maninderjeet Singh was born in VPO Mehta Tehsil Baba Bakala, district Amritsar to Gurinder Singh and Manpreet Kaur. He did his schooling from Baba Bakala and graduation from Khalsa College, Amritsar. He started his academic career from Football, Hockey Academy, Chandigarh in 2008.
Career
Maninderjeet is a product of the Khalsa Academy Mehta and Chandigarh Hockey Academy. Then he signed for Sikh Union Hockey Club Nairobi, Kenya in 2014, Air India in 2015 and Punjab & Sind Bank in 2017. In his youth career, he started from 2005-2008 at Khalsa Academy Mehta, Amritsar and then at Hockey Academy Chandigarh from 2008-2014. In 2018, he represented India in Senior India Camp (Test Series) with Bangladesh and Korea. "Apart from a skillful midfielder, he also has the leadership qualities to motivate other players to fight till the final whistle. This announcement is a great achievement for Indian hockey."
Achievements
- He won a Silver Medal for the Ninth Senior National Hockey Tournament 2019 in 2019.
- He won a Bronze Medal for the Khelo India Youth Games in 2019.
