Manjeet Rani
Manjeet Rani (born 2 March 1989) is an Indian wrestling coach associated with the national women's wrestling program. She is employed with the Sports Authority of India (SAI).[1]
Early life
Rani was born in a Jat family in Haryana. Her father, Dr. Shakti Singh, was a traditional wrestler. She completed her education at CBSM Sports School in Nidani, Jind, which is known for producing athletes.[2]
Career
Rani has coached Indian women's wrestling teams at junior, cadet, and senior levels. She has been part of multiple national training camps and international preparations.
In 2015, she was selected among the coaches for an international training camp in Kazakhstan before the World Championships.[3]
She was part of the national coaching setup during the 2016 Olympic cycle and contributed to Sakshi Malik’s preparation.[4]
In 2018, she was present at the Asian Wrestling Championships in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, where Navjot Kaur won India’s first-ever senior women’s gold medal. The moment of Kaur embracing coach Rani was captured in video coverage.[5][6]
In 2024, Rani served as the chief coach of the Indian women’s wrestling team at the U-23 Asian Wrestling Championship. Under her leadership, the team won 10 medals, including six golds.[7]
She was also included in the official Indian contingent for the 2024 Paris Olympics as a coach, confirmed in the clearance list by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (YAS).[8]
