Mannadi Devi Temple

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Mannadi Devi Temple is an old and ancient temple in the Mannadi Village of Pathanamthitta district. The temple is dedicated to the Hindu goddess Bhadrakali.

Origin

The area in which the temple is situated was once jungle. One day, few tribeswomen came here to cut grass, upon sharpening the knife on a nearby stone, blood started oozing out from it. They got frightened, and the public assembled. They made devaprashnam, and it was determined that the stone has devi's essence and thus making it divine. The name Mannady originates as, when blood oozed out, people shouted saying 'Mann Adi'(Put soil there) and thereby originated the name. [1]
