Born as Raphael Earl Marquaye Lutterodt, Mantse A.Y is a versatile Ghanaian musician. Combining numerous genres like; afrobeat, highlife, hiphop, trap and afropop, he creates what he defines as "Good Music". He is unsigned and works with a team called MAY Music Worldwide.[1]. Mantse A.Y is popularly known for serveal songs, particularly his debut single titled "Nyame Watse" meaning "God, you have kept long" and "Superstar". He has been identified as one of Ghana's promising artists for his hardwork and music about what people are going through from his viewpoint and perception of the world and the struggles many face on the streets from which he emerged[2]
Early Life[edit]
Raphael Earl Marquaye Lutterodt was born in Accra, Ghana and has loved music since childhood. Mantse A.Y has been inspired by legendary musicians like Fela Kuti and Bob Marley. He also developed interest in songs by Kanye West, Meek Mill, Tinny and Shatta Wale.
Music Career[edit]
Mantse A.Y's music career commenced in 2017 and since then has officially released songs like "So Far Gone", "Nyame Watse", "Dream Big", "Frass SZN", "Follow Me" and "Ayeley". He also release a 5-track EP which he titled "Life On the Streets EP" (L.O.T.S EP). This EP is made up of Superstar, V$M $))), Zombie, Party and Eye Red.
Awards and Nominations[edit]
Mantse A.Y was nominated in 2018 Ghana Music Awards South Africa for the Best Music Video of the Year for his official video for "Nyame Watse".
In March 2019, Mantse A.Y was nominated for the Unsung Category of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards for his undoubtable effort in the Ghanaian music industry
