Manuel Zwerger (* 18 April 1992 in Bolzano) is an Italian composer of contemporary classical music.

Biography[edit]

Manuel Zwerger grew up in Tramin on the Weinstrasse. He studied composition with Franz Baur, Simon Steen-Andersen, Niels Rønsholdt and Juliana Hodkinson at the Tiroler Landeskonservatorium (Innsbruck) and the Royal Academy of Music (Aarhus). He received further lessons from Hannes Kerschbaumer, Wolfram Schurig and Sebastian Themessl.

Manuel Zwerger received composition scholarships from the Richard Wagner Verband Wien 2015, Akademie Musiktheater heute 2017–19 (Deutsche Bank Stiftung)[1], Hilde-Zach-Kompositionsförderstipendium from the city of Innsbruck 2018[2], Cross Award Residency Verbania 2019, Startstipendium für Musik und darstellende Kunst des Bundeskanzleramtes Österreich (2020) and was selected in various Call for Scores.

He has collaborated with the Ensemble Modern, strings&noise, NAMES Ensemble, Windkraft – Kapelle für neue Musik, ensemble chromoson, HOAX Quartet, Ensemble airborne extended, Orchester der Akademie St. Blasius, Tiroler Kammerorchester Innstrumenti, Streichorchester Sonarkraft, and others.

Manuel Zwerger lives as a freelance composer in Vienna.[3]
