Mar Gregorios Orthodox Church, Marangadu[1] is located in Punalur, Kollam District,Kerala, India. This Parish is under Kottarakkara Punaloor Orthodox Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church.
History[edit]
This Church was built and consecrated on 3 March 1977 with 20 members under the leadership of Fr. Gheevargheese Kandamath.Baselios Mar Thoma Mathews II, the 89th successor to the Holy Apostolic Throne of St. Thomas and former Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan, supported in the construction of the parish.
It was re-built and consecrated on 13th and 14th, 2008 under the guidance of Fr. C D Rajan Nellila. Paulose Mar Milithios, who later become Catholicos of East & Malankara Metropolitan Baselios Mar Thoma Paulose II installed the Holy Relics of Gheevarghese Mar Gregorios of Parumala[2] on Friday, November 14, 2008 in Mar Gregorios Orthodox Church, Marangadu.
