The Amsterdam based folkband Marble Waves is a band whose style is influenced by Americana, indie and pop. The band consists of singer/songwriter Eveline Armina Haverlag, guitarist Frank Geerlings, bass player Amé Staal and drummer Rutger Louwerse. The band's name contains a subtle contradiction: marble is solid, unmoving and frozen in time and space, whereas waves are always moving and never stay in one shape or one place.

Live performances[edit]

In 2019, Marble Waves performed among others[1] at the Gluren bij de Buren festival[2] and played one of Utrecht’s TivoliVredenburg stages.[3] Later that year, the band performed for local public broadcasters such as WOS-radio and Schie TV.[4][5][6] Marble Waves were scheduled to play one of the Tivoli stages once again[7] in February 2020, during the Best of 2019 Weekend, but due to the outbreak of the coronavirus the festival was cancelled and replaced by an online edition.[8] April 26th 2020, the band performed via a livestream at the Drunter & Drüber festival in Berlin.[9] In the summer of 2020, the band performed a livestream at De Kroepoekfabriek in Vlaardingen and live shows at 't Oude Pothuys and De Nijverheid in Utrecht and several other locations.

Discography[edit]

‘Through the Dark’, the band’s first single, was released on 17th April 2020.[10] In a review of the song, Marble Waves was described as a "talented group" with a "captivating quality within their music that many people will instantly fall in love with".[11] The second single, "Extra Ordinary", was released on May 29th.[12] "Caught In A Current", released on 28th August 2020, is Marble Waves’ third release. It’s a song about the feeling of always working hard and struggling, while staying stuck in the same place, never getting somewhere. In a review of the song, Marble Waves was described as a band who "(...) wrap poetic lyrics in layered vocals, underscored by simple but effective violin arrangements and ethereal guitar work". [13] Marble Waves will release their debut EP, consisting of 6 songs and produced by Tom Sikkers, later in 2020. The artwork of the EP is created by Lynn Gommans.
