Graciela Isabel Jakavicius - Grimalauskas Janavicius, better known as Marcia Bell is a Spanish-Lithuanian media figure of the Spanish tabloids. She was born in Buenos Aires (Argentina) on 15 April 1951. Her parents was the Lithuanian pianist, composer and theatre director Liudas Jakavicius – Grimalauskas (son of the writer Liudvikas Jakavičius) and Gražina Janavičienė - Jakavičienė - Grimalauskienė, housewife and aunt of the Lithuanian businessman Zenonas Janavičius (Chief Executive Officer of AB Sparta). Now she is Spanish citizen.
Early life[edit]
She began her career in Argentina in 1965 performing graphic novels and later films and TV series. Also during her youth ness in Argentina she modeled for the fashion designer Paco Jamandreu, fashion designer of Eva Peron. In 1974 she started a short relationship with the Spanish singer Camilo Sesto and changed her residence to Madrid (Spain).
Years 70[edit]
During her relationship with Camilo Sesto he wrote his famous hit “Isabel”, inspired in Marcia Bell. Thanks to her relationship with Camilo Sesto, Marcia Bell became one of the most famous women in Spain during the years 70´s, being front page of all Spanish magazines and hobnobbing with different personalities from all backgrounds (politics, arts and culture). Among her circle of friends in those days we can cite: María del Carmen Martínez-Bordiú y Franco (Ex Duchess of Cadiz), Adolfo Suárez (former Spanish president), Carmen Cervera (Baroness Tita Thyssen - Bornemisza), Miguel Bosé (singer), Rocío Durcal (singer), Donna Hightower (singer) or Salvador Dalí (painter) to name a few. From 1973 to 1978, she lived in common with the Spanish composer Danny Daniel, who wrote inspired in her the hit "Por el amor de una mujer", performed by Julio Iglesias. In 1974 she recorded her first disc with Ariola Eurodisc entitled "Amarte una vez más" and one year later, she filmed her first film in Spain, the first one of four. In 1975, she recorded her second disc with Trova Records entitled "Hoy tengo miedo al amor". In 1978 he broke up her relationship with Danny Daniel and recorded her third disc with Trova Records entitled "Tu sei tu".
Years 80[edit]
In 1981 she get married with the Argentinean singer Luis Ángel and moved to Mexico. In Mexico she recorded three discs with different companies and filmed six movies. Also she started her career as composer and won the second place as composer in the famous Mexican contest "Valores Juveniles Bacardi & Cia". As well she wrote various songs for different Latin singers like María Conchita Alonso, Eddie Santiago, Lalo Rodríguez, Dulce, Paquito Gúzman, Julio Preciado or Manoella Torres. In 1986 she moved to Los Angeles, California where she wrote the Spanish version of the song Hands Across America. During her stay in Los Angeles, she had the opportunity to work with Albert Hammond and K. C. Porter. In 1987 she get separated from her husband and returned to Spain. After her arrival to Spain she had an affair with Gonzalo, Duke of Aquitaine, who asked her to get married, but they broke up their relationship after one year.
Years 90[edit]
From 1990 to 1993 she was employed as singer by "Cruceros Vistamar", a shipping company. In 1994 she collaborated as a singer in a world tour of the Spanish singer Camilo Sesto. In 1995 she retired from entertainment.
Today[edit]
At the present time, she is under medical treatment by a chronic depression after a suicide attempt in 2010. Her sister Carla Rigg is writing Marcia´s biography and in the next months will be on sale in bookstores.
