Maria Elizabeth Del Rey (born July 13, 1959) is a Cuban-American recording artist, music producer, and entrepreneur.[1][2] She is professionally known for bilingual music for children and as the founder of ChildGood, a boutique production company.[citation needed]
Del Rey is a Latin Grammy Award-nominated producer, a four-time Parents' Choice Gold, Silver, Honorable Award Winner, and a recipient of the Carnegie Centennial-New York Public Library Grant Award and the National Parenting Publications Gold Award.[citation needed]
Career[edit]
Del Rey started her career as a music producer in Los Angeles in 1984.[citation needed] She also recorded with Jon Anderson of Yes as a guest vocalist on his Toltec album.[citation needed]
In 1998, Del Rey started the independent label record company Mirey Music Group and released Lullabies of Latin America.[1][2]
Del Rey was the first woman producer nominated in the children's album category at the first Annual Latin Grammy Award in 2000 for Best Children's Recording in the Americas.[citation needed]
From 1997 to 2012, Del Rey toured the USA with her original production of The Bridge El Puente (BEP).[3]
In 2012, Del Rey founded ChildGood Magazine, the journal for creative families.[citation needed]
