Maria Shandi (born November 20, 1988) is an Indonesian contemporary Christian music singer-songwriter. Nowadays, she often serves alongside her father, Pdm. Suwandi, who is a speaker and songwriter.[1]
She began studying piano at age 5 and vocals at age 11. She began her service in Sunday school at age 11, as a singer, keyboard player, worship leader, and Sunday school teacher. At age 15, she began to join in the youth community and served as a singer and keyboard player.
She released her first album, "Sentuh Hatiku" (Indonesian: "Touch My Heart"), in December 2007. In late 2008, she received an award as the best female singer at the Indonesian Gospel Music Award. In addition, the album "Sentuh Hatiku" also received awards for best-selling album and best song that year. Some of the songs in the album "Sentuh Hatiku" also became spiritual patron lullabies and FTVs on RCTI. The songs include Sentuh Hatiku, Dia Mengerti, Mujizat itu Nyata, Menanti KeajaibanMu, Sejauh Timur dari Barat, Kau Mengenal Hatiku, Kupercaya Janji-Mu.
In April 2009, she released her second album, "Kupercaya JanjiMu" (Indonesian: "I Believe in Your Promise"). In this album, she collaborated with Mike Mohede, winner of Indonesian Idol, singing "Tuhan Pasti Sanggup". The song "Kupercaya JanjiMu," written by Liliana Tanoesoedibjo, became the theme song for an Easter reality show on RCTI in 2009.
In late 2009, she released a Christmas album as her third album, titled "Christmas in My Heart". This album contains 8 Christmas songs in English and Indonesian.
Her fourth album was released in May 2010, titled "Masih ada Tuhan" (Indonesian: "There is still God"). In this album, she collaborated with several gospel singers, including Mike Mohede, Jason "Sentuh Hatiku", Angel "Idola Cilik", and Edward Chen. This album included a bonus VCD containing a music video of Maria Shandi. The album's concept encourages listeners to continue to believe and hope in God even when facing seemingly insurmountable challenges, believing in His ability to restore lives.
She released "Kasih Tuhan" (Indonesian: "Love of God"), her fifth album, in mid-2012. The album contains 12 songs about God's love and goodness.
