Mário Miranda (born September 21, 1978) is a Brazilian former mixed martial artist who competed most recently for M-1 Global, fighting in their middleweight division. He is the former M-1 Global Middleweight champion.
Mixed martial arts[edit]
Miranda made his professional MMA debut in 2006 and has fought primarily in the U.S. northwest. Previous victories include current UFC fighter Rick Story, former UFC fighter Joe Vedepo, and Bellator fighter Mike Hayes.
Ultimate Fighting Championship[edit]
Miranda originally out for The Ultimate Fighter 11 but in February 2010, the UFC announced they had signed him to a contract.
He made his debut for the organization against Gerald Harris at UFC Fight Night: Florian vs. Gomi, losing for the first time in his career by TKO in the first round.[1]
Miranda faced David Loiseau on June 12, 2010 at UFC 115.[2] He won the fight via TKO in the second round.[3]
Miranda lost to Demian Maia via unanimous decision on August 28, 2010 at UFC 118.[4]
Miranda made his fourth UFC appearance against Aaron Simpson on March 26, 2011 at UFC Fight Night 24.[5] Throughout the fight Miranda was dominated on ground, and eventually lost the fight via unanimous decision (30–27, 30–27, 30–26).
Following the loss to Simpson, Miranda was subsequently released from the promotion.[6]
M-1 Global[edit]
Miranda faced Dmitry Samoilov on November 19, 2011 at M-1 Challenge XXIX: Samoilov vs. Miranda. He won via submission in the second round.
Miranda faced Arthur Guseinov on May 16, 2012 at М-1 Challenge 32 for the vacant Middleweight championship.[7] He won via submission in the third round.
Miranda faced against Ramazan Emeev at М-1 Challenge 35. He lost by unanimous decision.
