Enrique "Wasabi" Marín Picón (Born September 2, 1986) is a Spanish professional mixed martial artist who competed in the UFC's Lightweight division. He was the runner up on The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America 2. He trains in Sutemi Fight Academy, in Spain.
Background[edit]
Enrique was born in Seville, a city in Spain, he studied in the university getting the title of teacher of primary education. Marín started training Jujutsu at the age of 15 and then he started in Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He knew he wanted to practice MMA after watching some videos on VHS cassettes. Marín started training just to practise a sport that put adrenaline in his body and to learn how to defend himself.[2]

Early career[edit]
- Marín made his professional MMA debut in 2007 against Rayco Cubas on November 3, 2007 at KO Arena 7. Marín lost the fight via submission in the first round.
- Marín faced Alvaro Rodríguez on February 19, 2011 at Magna Bellum Championships 1. Marín won the fight via split decision.
- Marín faced Daniel Requeijo on April 30, 2011 at Magna Bellum Championships 2. Marín won the fight via unanimous decision.
- Marín faced Loic Marty on September 10, 2011 at IFC: King of the Castle. Marín lost the fight via submission in the first round.
- Marín faced Ernesto Navas on October 1, 2011 at Magna Bellum Championships 3. Marín won the fight via submission in the first round.
- Marín faced Sergey Malozenov on June 9, 2012 at Almogavers: The Chance 3. Marín won the fight via unanimous decision.
- Marín faced Eliot Hernández on October 12, 2012 at Hombres de Honor 46. Marín won the fight via submission on the first round.
- Marín faced Adrián Pérez on November 4, 2012 at Almogavers: The Chance 4. Marín won the fight via submission on the second round.

The Ultimate Fighter[edit]
Marín is the first Spanish fighter to compete on The Ultimate Fighter, and the second (the first was Alberto Cerra Leon in UFC 2) Spanish fighter in the UFC.
In the first episode of the season, Marin was the second choice of Team Gastelum (Kelvin Gastelum). In his first match, Marín faced Kevin Medinilla. Marin won the fight via majority decision.
For his second bout in the semifinals, Marin faced Hector Aldana. Marin won the fight via submission in 1 minute.
Ultimate Fighting Championship[edit]
On November 21, 2015, the finals of The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America 2 took place in UFC Fight Night 78, he faced Erick Montano. After a close fight, Marin lost the fight in a split decision.
On July 9, 2016, Marin faced Sage Northcutt at UFC 200. Marin lost the fight in a very close unanimous decision.[3] Marin was cut by the UFC following his loss to Sage Northcutt.[4]
Post UFC Career[edit]
Shortly after being cut by the UFC, Marin was signed by Euro FC. Marin is expected to face Aleksi Mäntykivi on February 2, 2016, in Prague, Czech Republic.[5]

Personal life[edit]
Marín has the title of teacher of primary education, especially, physical education. Enrique got his nickname Wasabi from going to a Japanese restaurant with friends, and seeing a bowl of wasabi, he thought it was guacamole and ate every last bite of it.[citation needed]
