Mark Robert Parris

Mark Robert Parris (born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on May 22, 1950, died in 2019) was an American diplomat, political advisor, and government official who served as Ambassador to Turkey from 1997 to 2000.[1]

Career[edit]

Parris was Director of the Office of Soviet Union Affairs from 1985 to 1988.[citation needed]

President Clinton nominated him as Ambassador to Turkey on August 29, 1997. He was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 29, 1997, and sworn in on November 10, 1997. He served until 2000.[2]

He was a member of the Brookings Institute, advising the institute on Turkey in 2007.[3]
