The Ice Sword Saga

The comic story which recognized De Vita as a big name among Disney comic artists, was the The Ice Sword Saga trilogy (Saga della spada di ghiaccio), with the first installment Mickey and the Ice Sword (Topolino e la spada di ghiaccio) had its first publication around Christmas 1982. An adeventure/fantasy fiction story in which Mickey Mouse and Goofy get teleported to a magic medieval like realm where they will have to embark on a hero journey in order to save this world from extinction. One year later in 1983, once again in time for Christmas the second part, The Tournament of Agaar (Topalino e il torneo dell'Argaar), was published, this time the story continues with revisit to the magical realm where things have really changed since last time. The third and final part of the trilogy, Mickey and the Return of the Prince of Mists (Topolino e il ritorno del principe delle nebbie), first published in december 1984, in where Mickey and Goofy must end the evil forces in the magic realm once and for all and as a definitive end to the trilogy, the link between Mickey and Goofy's world and the magic realm is destroyed.

De Vita was after the trilogy's conclusion many times asked to continue the Ice Sword story with more episodes by both the Disney editors and from fans, which he refused to do. He felt that the fantasy genre was overworked at the moment and was neither inspired to produce another episode, he stated. In 1993, almost a decade after the third story's publication, he did give in and produced Mickey and the cosmic sleeping beauty (Topolino e la bella addormentata nel cosmo).[3]

In 2018, in time for Mickey Mouse's 90th anniversary one of the motifs of a collector's stamp series was artwork from The Ice Sword Saga.[4]

The plot revolves around the treasure hunt for the twelve zodiac stones in order to piece them together then be able to foresee the future.

Once upon a time... In America

In America (C'era una volta... in America), an historical adventure series about the history of the United States.
