Matang Tubig is a cold spring and tourist spot in Laguna, Philippines. It is bounded by Cabuyao and Calamba cities and slopes to the foot of Casile Valley. The Matang Tubig water source is from Tagaytay in the province of Cavite. The cave is close and adjacent to Canlubang Golf & Country Club, along the valley fault.
History
The cedar-shaped water area was a cave formation created in 1932 during the Spanish period, where the war between the Japanese and American forces occurred. A wounded American soldier and his companion, Jose Yulo, hid there. A San Cristobal River or Matang Tubig Falls is one of the major rivers covering Calamba, that drains into Laguna de Bay along with San Juan River (Calamba). San Cristobal River is also monitored by the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA).
