Matilda Media is a digital media investment business founded in 2008 by Alex Hartman and Peter Scarf.[1] Matilda Media produces films[2] and TV projects; and develops digital media related transactions.[3] The headquarters of Matilda Media is in SoHo, New York; the company also has representative offices in Studio City, California; Paris, France; and Sydney, Australia.

Matilda Media founded Rightstrade in 2008. which became a joint-venture project with FilmTrack Software in 2010 and entered commercial development in May 2011 with financing from strategic investors.[4][3] Rightstrade assists film and TV sales agencies promote titles for licensing rights and for digital delivery through the RightsCloud high-speed network. In May 2012 film services industry pioneer Technicolor[5] announced it had partnered with Rightstrade. Matilda Media Ventures launched in 2012 with Katherine Keating joining the company to establish Matilda Media Ventures in New York.
Matilda Media founded Newzulu, an entirely user-generated news outlet and news agency wire service in 2012 along with associated user-generated, brand funded advertising network Adzulu, launched in 2013. On May 28, 2013 it was announced that Matilda Media would acquire Citizenside from Agence France-Presse, IAM and the original founders of Scooplive. [6] Matilda has announced it would launch a new English-language citizen journalism initiative, named Newzulu,[7] based on the Citizenside technology platform and headquartered in Paris. Newzulu is under development as an entirely user-generated news outlet. On July 11, 2013 the Commercial Court of Paris confirmed the acquisition of Citizenside by Matilda Media and its subsidiary, Newzulu.[8]
Matilda Media founded 3DVRX,[9] a digital home entertainment platform in 2013.
Matilda Media founded publishing division Matilda Books in 2011. Matilda Books acquired publishing and film rights to best-selling novel 'Pemulwuy: The Rainbow Warrior' by Eric Willmot in 2011. Pemulwuy was an Aboriginal resistance leader who stormed Parramatta at the head of 100 warriors.[10] In March 2012 Matilda Media announced an agreement with See Pictures[2] to co-produce "Pemulwuy" as a feature film.
