Matthew Scott Philie (born February 12, 1996) is an American YouTube personality, host, producer, and entrepreneur from Long Island, New York.

He is best known for creating the setup-oriented YouTube channel swashin TV, which has 170,000 subscribers and over 23 million views. Philie is also the creator, host, and director of the popular online series Pimp My Setup.

Career

Early career

From October 2012 to May 2014, Philie worked as a sales associate for the company Best Buy[1] and as a web designer for his own company, Chosen One Media Inc.[2]

Philie created swashin TV[3] on March 4, 2013. His first video was titled “Tech Setup Tour: Spring 2014[4]”. This was the first of many desk setup-related videos to be released on the swashin TV channel. In addition to setups, Philie also created the popular online series “Pimp My Setup”. Swashin TV also features tech reviews and brand deals, tutorials, setup spotlights, and more.

Pimp My Setup (2013-present)

Pimp My Setup[5] is a regular YouTube and Twitch [6] live stream hosted by Philie. Philie critiques user-submitted desk setups every episode. All setups are scored using SURS (setup rating system), which includes five categories: Wire management, Out of sight out of mind, Usability, Accessories, and Theme. The highest possible score a setup can receive is 100. Each show is uploaded to YouTube following the broadcast. There have been 220 episodes as of April 26, 2017. Season one of the series premiered in August 2013 but was removed from YouTube in October 2014 due to creative differences between Philie and his co-host. Pimp My Setup season two[7] premiered in November 2014 and has continued since. Pimp My Setup has featured special guests Linus Sebastian,[8] Jayztwocents,[9] MarzBarGaming,[10] and more.

Setup Nightmares (2016-present)

Setup Nightmares[11] is a satirical series where Philie showcases the desk setups that are considered to be terrible. The series has gained momentum with only 12 episodes and over 2 million views total.

Setup Clinic (2016-present)

Setup Clinic[12] is a series where Philie and co-host Kieran Dunne provide live support to a viewer in need of help with their desk setup. The series only has two episodes but a combined total of 750,000 views.

Pimp My Shed (2015-present)

Pimp My Shed[13] is a series where Philie takes the shed in his backyard and renovates it to be his very own studio, or as referred to in the series, “Shudio”. With 23 episodes, the series has received over 1.7 million views total. The shed featured in this series is also the shed where Pimp My Setup is streamed live from.[14]

Personal life

Philie graduated from SUNY Empire State College in 2017 with an associate's degree in Arts.[15] Philie owns two pets, a dog named Dexter and a cat named Cooper. He occasionally shares videos about his pets and his home life on his personal channel ‘Matt Philie’.[16]
