Matthew (Matty) Macarthur (born 24 September 2004) is an Australian footballer who plays as a midfielder for National League South club Farnborough.

Career

Born in Sydney, Macarthur had spells at Western Sydney Wanderers and Southampton, before signing a scholarship at Gillingham in 2021.[2] Following loan spells at Margate[3] and Sheppey United,[4] Macarthur signed his first professional contract ahead of the 2023–24 campaign and went on to make his first-team debut during a 2–1 home victory in September 2023 over Leyton Orient in an EFL Trophy group-stage tie, coming on as an 87th-minute substitute.[5] Macarthur went on to feature twice more for the club before loan spells at National League South clubs, Dartford[6] and Tonbridge Angels[7] followed towards the tail-end of his debut campaign. He was released at the end of his contract in June 2024.[1]

Following his departure, Macarthur had a brief spell with Sutton Athletic,[8] before joining Farnborough in November 2024.[9]
