Maurice Brown (born May 5th, 1992) is an American politician and member of the Onondaga County Legislature. He has represented the 15th district since 2024.
In 2026, Brown ran in the democratic primary for the nomination in the 129th district in the New York State Assembly. He defeated long term incumbent Bill Magnarelli by a narrow margin of 82 votes.[1] [2]
Early life, military service, and career
Brown campaigned for Bernie Sanders' 2016 presidential campaign and was nominated to become a national delegate.[3] Brown is an alumni of Onondaga Community College and Syracuse University. At age 22, Brown enlisted in the United States Army Reserve, and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. [3]
Brown identifies politically as a democratic socialist.[4] In 2017, he co-founded Uplift Syracuse, a progressive advocacy group.[3]
