Mavatar Technologies, Inc. is the developer of the mCart retail platform as a service.[1] Mavatar is headquartered in Menlo Park, California.[2]

History[edit]

Mavatar was founded in 2011 by Susan Akbarpour and Brom Mahbod.[3] The company was developed to bring retail experiences onto one platform.[2][4] Akbarpour began conceptualizing the company while performing research as a graduate student at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.[5][6]

In June 2018, Mavatar announced that it is licensing its software to the FX Group, the marketing partner for award shows like the Grammy Awards and the Emmys.[7][8] Award show viewers will be able to purchase content that they see at the award shows on the mCart platform.[1][9]

mCart Platform[edit]

Mavatar Technologies has developed mCart, a software platform as a service (PaaS).[10] The mCart platform connects retailers and content creators to create shoppable content.[11][12] mCart smart shopping carts also offer users coupons and discounted prices.[13]

mCart uses the mCart token, which employs Ethereum-backed smart contracts to pay influencers and mCart marketplace operators.[14][15][16]
