Max Balter (Ukrainian: Максим Володимирович Балтер; 3 March 1988, Kyiv) is a Ukrainian director and producer.[1] He is the founder of the Balter Films[2] and First LA Production. He has directed three short films that have won over 35 festival awards worldwide.[3] His short film Together was selected for the Cannes Short Film Festival[4] and the Cannes Independent Film Festival, and won "Best Horror" at three international awards: Paris Play Film Festival, New York Movie Awards, and Florence Film Awards.[5] He has directed music videos for such artists as Kazka, Alina Pash, Agon, Poshlaya Molly, Luna, Sergey Babkin and others.[6]

Early life[edit]

Max Balter was born in Kyiv. In 2022 moved to the US to further his career in the film industry.

Education[edit]

In 2004, Max Balter entered the "Law" specialty, in 2008, he received a bachelor's degree. In 2004—2009, he studied "Management of Organisation" and received a master's degree.

In 2021—2022, he studied for a master's degree, majoring in "Dramaturgy of Cinema and TV".[4]

Career[edit]

In 2009—2010, he worked as an assistant director at Inter TV channel.

In 2010—2014, he was a co-founder and executive producer at Sunset Media Production.

In 2013, he directed and produced the short documentary film about Holocaust of Jewish nation Phoenix.

In 2014—2019, he was the co-founder and CEO at Bachoo Design Studio.[7][8]

In 2018—2019, he was a teacher of the course "Video Production" at Projector online institute.[4]

In 2019, he founded his own production studio Balter Films.[9]
